Funerals

When a member of the parish dies or is near death, the parish office should be notified immediately. The clergy are ready to be of help at any hour. The church is the appropriate place for the funeral of a Christian, a service normally celebrated within the context of the Holy Eucharist.

Burial of cremated remains in Trinity's Memorial Close is available at no charge to all parishioners and, at the discretion of the Rector, to those outside the parish. The names and dates of all those whose ashes are buried in the Close are added to the bronze memorial plaques in the church narthex.

Arrangement for altar flowers for a funeral service should be coordinated with the parish office. The Library and Goodwin Hall are usually available as meeting places before and after the service.

Parishioners are encouraged to leave instructions for their funerals, including the selection of a plot in the Memorial Close, on permanent record with the parish office. A funeral instruction form is available from
the office.

Contributions may be made to offset the cost of providing the organist ($200) and sexton ($50) for a funeral at Trinity, and of adding a name to the memorial plaque. Gifts of appreciation may be made to the clergy discretionary fund or to one of the memorial funds of the church.
